For those with an ancestor, male or female, born in Scotland or Ireland named MacLachlan , Lachlan, McLaughlin, Laughlin, Claflin or any of the 400 variations in spelling; or Gilcrist or MacEwen , you are eligible to become a Clan Society member.

 

Your name and family would be entered in our record of "Families of the Clan"; this is included in the clan lachlan CD which is updated and maintained for all time in the National Library of Scotland.

 

You have full access to all the services of our Library. This brings the color edition of clan lachlan, the magazine, of the worldwide Clan Society, genealogy resources and coming soon a Private Message Board for members to post queries.

 

The "save old castle lachlan" Fund (SOCL) has been formed by the Lachlan Trust of Canada to raise funds on the internet. One of the major objectives of the Clan Lachlan Association of Canada (CLA) is fund raising for Celtic & Scottish projects. The current major project takes the form of supporting the "save old castle lachlan" Fund

 

If you join the Clan Society, you would not only support the preservation of old castle lachlan but also participate in developing an interpretative experience of the Clan, the old castle and Kilmorie Chapel for visitors returning to their ancestral roots.

 

In the internet fund raising campaign CLA is introducing pledges which bring Clan Society & CLA membership. There are 12 different membership pledges ranging from $15.00 to $2,000.00. 40% to 70% of your membership fee is a charitable donation to the Lachlan Trust of Canada.

CLA offers Associate Membership to anyone not qualified by blood as a member of the Clan. This carries all the rights of the membership except the right to vote as a Clan Society member.

Play a part in the development of a Clan Centre . Help to keep the ethos of the Clan alive for future generations. This project is at the formative stage. Some of the concepts:

Audio and video presentations of the life of clan members throughout history in the period 1250 to 1850 including the experience of living in the Castle in the 14th century.

The immigrant and pioneer experience of the Clan in Australia, Canada, New Zealand and USA.

Exhibits & presentations housed in a small Visitors Centre with a Clan Museum, genealogy assistance, sale of crafts and MacLachlan memorabilia.
